Measuring the Economic Impact
Tailored Learning Resources aim to have a direct economic impact.
Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives 2008 estimates huge cost savings for the NHS regarding the impact of healthy eating, and according to the NICE obesity guidance ‘combined healthy eating and physical activity interventions may help prevent children from becoming overweight’.
The Healthy Schools Programme and The School Food Trust say that healthier children achieve better results. They are likely to contribute more to the economy throughout their lives and are less likely to be a drain on NHS resources.
For these reasons, community wide initiatives based on the principles engendered in NutriSkill can have a significant and objective impact on the economy. |
